North Wales Regional Community Manager Josh Hart was travelling again this past weekend after a quick turnover from his time in Ireland with the U14 Celtic Challenge team. This time to take part in Badminton Europe’s Shuttle Time Tutor/Trainer Course.
Shuttle Time is the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF’s) Schools Badminton programme. Which aims to make badminton one of the most popular school sports in the world.
The course lasted 2 days with the 3rd reserved for individual feedback. Participants came from across Europe from Sweden, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Hungary, and Albania. The tutor segment of the course had a focus on being able to train teachers how to present Shuttle Time sessions within the school environment to their pupils. Keeping pupils engaged and active. The trainer segment on the other hand took the next step into educating tutors to train teachers, a mouthful I know.
Josh managed to successfully get both tutor and trainer qualifications which will allow him to run Community Coaching Award sessions, Teacher Courses and educate new Shuttle Time tutors across Wales. Alongside the fantastic tutors Badminton Wales already have, a new addition will allow easier access for teachers to entry level badminton education.
Josh’s Comments
‘The course was an amazing experience networking with some truly fantastic people who I now call my friends. Having novel feedback on my session delivery is always invaluable and I cannot wait to bring all the knowledge I gained from the course back to Wales to pass it on. Huge thanks to the trainers and Tommi but also my fellow participants for such a fantastic time.’
