We’ve been shortlisted in the Inclusion category for the BWF — Badminton World Federation Member Association Awards 2025, which is a reflection of a year defined by incredible milestones, most notably our performance player Jack Wilson’s groundbreaking appearance in an able-bodied competition. 🥳

This is not something which happens very often, and historically, only a couple of players worldwide have attempted to do this. 🏸

A proud moment for Badminton Wales, and it’s only the beginning of many more to come. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ✨

When the OG of commentary, Gillian Clarke, says, "Well spotted, umpire David Evans – well done,” you know it’s a moment worth remembering. 👏

Throwback to the 2021 All England Open, when David (Badminton Cymru - Wales Board Director) reminded all of us just how crucial technical officials are to our sport. 🏸

Speaking as a fellow umpire, it certainly shows a key element, that of concentration. Concentration on the part that mattered. Most will have seen the upward stroke and then started to watch the shuttle. Also, can you spot any sign of nerves, change of demeanour ? None at all. Just composure and control. All this whilst officiating at the All England.

David Evans is an official legend 🙌 👨🏼‍⚖️
