Badminton Wales in Education
Shuttletime Schools Competition
Badminton Wales have been working closely with local authorities across Wales to ensure there are plenty of opportunities for schools and pupils to access more badminton.
Firstly, we are looking to grow our Shuttletime Schools Competition which is aimed at grassroots players and is open to all secondary schools in Wales for no cost.
Schools are expected to compete in their local authority qualifying round before progressing through to the Badminton Wales regional finals. Please get in touch if your local authority is not running an event and you would like to enter. The Regional Finals will be split into year 7-8 & year 9-10 age categories. With separate events for both boys and girls. Each team will consist of 4 players and schools can only enter one teams per category. Schools must register their attendance through the designated form prior to the event.
Players associated to Badminton Wales high performance squads are ineligible to enter the Shuttletime Schools Competition but are encouraged to enter our National School Championships which will be held in April 2024. More details below.
In addition to our grassroots competitions, Shuttletime also offers completely FREE training to; Primary school teachers, comprehensive school teachers, university and college students as well as young ambassadors. All training is delivered over half a day and is bespoke to the demographic attending. If you would like to arrange some training please get in touch.
