On the weekend of 14th & 15th January 2023, a Welsh Masters Team, comprising of players from the age categories 40+, 45+ and 50+, and various areas of Wales, travelled to Bournemouth to contest the over 40s event in the Masters’ County Challenge.
The team consisted of Kristian Wood, Lee Williams, Simon Pill (Captain), Paul Alexander, Phil Mayne, Carol Davey, Sian Elvis, Joanna John, Helen Williams and Becki Williams.
After Day 1 Wales had drawn 2-2 with Cambridgeshire, and defeated Wiltshire and Avon, 3-1 and 4-0 respectively.
On Day 2, the team’s excellent form continued with 3-1 wins against both Suffolk and Hertfordshire.
Such a strong showing across the weekend should see the Wales Over 40 Team promoted to Division 1 for the 2024 event.
Everyone on the team gives thanks to Steve Aylott and YC Sports for organising its shirts and zip-tops, and to Simon for his management leading up to and at the event.
