2019 began with more success and great performances from Badminton Wales players at the recent Notts U17 Gold/Gold * event on 5/6th Jan 2019.
Leading the way was Aimie Whiteman who partnered Sophia Noble to win the Girls Doubles after a series of stunning performances including a 21-15 14-21 21-17 victory in the final against top seeds Milly Evans and Caitlin Harper. Not content with a single event Aimie also took the silver spot in the Gold* Singles event including an impressive semi final victory against no. 1 seed Leona Lee 21-19 21-18.
However, there were some other notable performances to be seen. Dan Clarke played exceptionally well in his singles to get to the semi final before going down narrowly to the eventual winner Harry Goode. Dan showed great fitness in winning a series of tough three setter including one against his RA stable mate Dan Kite 20-22 21-17 21-18.
Jazz Owen returns to great form with a great run to the girls singles semi-final before going down narrowly to no. 1 seed Megan Brierly 21-18 1-17.
Other results saw Saffron Morris, still U13, win through her group before going down in 3 sets.
All the players are showing great form in the lead up to the Junior Nationals which will take place on the 16/17 Feb. It promises to be one very exciting event.
Well done to all.
