Eligibility
- All U18 players currently on the National Junior Squad will be invited.
- Additional players may be recommended by Junior Club Coaches.
- All participants must:
- Be Badminton Wales (BW) members.
- Be attached to a Club.
Trial Dates & Locations
There will be 2 Trial Days, each consisting of 3 x 4-hour sessions:
Players should arrive 30 minutes early for registration.

Saturday, 6th December 2025

Trial Format
Each session will follow this structure:
- 0–45 mins: Warm-up & Strength/Conditioning Development
- 45–130 mins: Routines
- 130 mins–Close: Match Practice
Players will rotate matches across age groups and may be recorded for social media (please notify us if you do not wish your child to be included in media content).
Bring appropriate food/snacks. The day will run like a tournament with breaks between matches.

Post-Trial Opportunities
Successful players will be invited to 4 National Junior Development Squad weekends in 2026. These are supplementary to club play, not replacements.
2026 Squad Dates & Locations
- Jan 4–5: Ebbw Vale / Risca (TBC)
- Mar 1–2: Llanelli
- May 4–5: Aberdare
- Sept 6–7: Bangor University
Cost: £150 for all 4 weekends (fixed fee regardless of attendance).
Additional Info
- Club Coaches are welcome to attend and support players.
- Opportunities for lead delivery, technical official training, and youth leadership may be available.
- Older participants may access the Badminton Wales Community Coaching Award.
Typical Squad Weekend Timings:
- Saturday: 11:00–13:00 & 13:00–15:00
- Sunday: 09:00–11:00 & 12:00–14:00
Expectations
All squad players are expected to:
- Compete in Badminton Wales Junior Series events
- Support local events (Junior Leagues, Schools, Dragon Series)
- Participate in Badminton England events where possible
