Badminton Wales Board Vacancies
Badminton Wales is the National Governing Body for Wales, formed in 1928 and has a rich heritage being one of only eight founding members of World Badminton – we celebrate our centenary in 2028.
Badminton Wales Community consists of the Board of Directors , Sub-Committees, Operational Team and network of competitive clubs, social clubs, coaches, volunteers, members throughout the country, responsible for all aspects of the sport, from grass roots participation to performance.
The Badminton Wales Board is one of the most progressive and dynamic within Welsh sport. By joining us, you offer your expertise and in return gain valuable experience of working within a modern National Governing Body of sport.
We are looking for three to seven committed individuals to become Directors for a term of up to three years. For the role descriptions click on the portfolio(s) that interest you below:
We have three new roles available:
- Legal Director
- Income Generation Director
- Marketing and Communications Director
We are also recruiting against four existing portfolios:
- Coaching & Development (South/West Wales)
- Coaching & Development (North/Mid Wales)
- Performance
- Events
Who are we looking for?
We are keen to hear from individuals wanting to join the Board for the first time and also incumbent Directors seeking a new term of office. Short-listed applicants will be interviewed by an independent Nominations Panel which will make recommendations to the Badminton Wales Board (for Independents) or AGM (for Badminton Directors).
We welcome interest from any person who is eligible to undertake the role of a Company Director and positively celebrate diversity and inclusion. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals currently under-represented on our Board – this includes women, people from diverse ethnic communities, disabled people and those who speak Welsh.
The time commitment required is one all-day strategy workshop, four on-line Board meetings, an on-line AGM, and sub-committee involvement dependent on your capacity.

Directors can come from within the Badminton Wales Membership (‘Badminton Directors’) or from outside the Badminton Wales Membership (‘Independents’)

Volunteering
Opportunities to volunteer with Badminton Wales are always coming up – our volunteers are an integral part of our team and they make badminton possible. From line judges to ambassadors, to tournament helpers and media assistants. You are our life force – join the team!
With the Welsh International Challenge just around the corner, we need you!
The tournament takes place in November each year. If you want to be courtside for some of the best badminton of the year then we would love to hear from you. Currently we are looking for:
- General help. Selling Welsh kit, interacting with the public.
- Media assistants. Are you a genius with twitter, instagram and facebook? We are looking for individuals to be a part of our media team to promote the event in the build up and during play.
