It is with great sadness that Badminton Wales has heard of the recent passing of former President Gordon Pine at the age of 94.
Gordon from Beddau in RCT loved all sports and played rugby, cricket, tennis, badminton and golf for local clubs in the area.
Through his love of badminton he became a WBU coach and umpire, travelling widely across Europe. Later as WBU President he attended his first Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh.
He attended further CWG in Canada, Australia and New Zealand in the position of assistant Team Manager for the Commonwealth Games Federation for Wales.
As WBU President Gordon played a key role in developing badminton in Wales at a time when the vast majority of NGB administration was undertaken on a voluntary basis.
Our thoughts are with Gordon’s family and in particular daughters Lynn and Beverley at this time.
