Badminton Wales is delighted to announce that Jon Austin has been appointed to the Board as a company director on a three-year term, with a specific portfolio covering high performance.

Historically Jon has strong links to Wales, is a former Performance Director for Badminton England and a former CEO of Pentathlon GB. During his time at Badminton England Jon successfully led the Olympic and Paralympic World Class Programmes. Currently he is a part-time consultant working with clients across the British high performance system including UK Sport.

Following his appointment Jon stated:

‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the Badminton Wales Board and hope that the experiences I have had throughout my working life and my love for badminton, can positively contribute to the future success of the organisation. My links to badminton in Wales go back a long way and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to get involved in the next chapter of its development’

Badminton Wales Chair Peter Hybart added:

‘It is another big step forward that following a thorough, independent process, Badminton Wales has recruited someone of Jon’s calibre and experience to join our Board of Directors. We are currently in the process of developing a new strategic plan and Jon’s expertise will be invaluable in helping us conclude its development, scrutinise its implementation and continually keep it under review’.
