Badminton Wales and National Badminton will be working closely together to increase the number of players and coaches involved in our grassroots game across Wales, as well as looking at ways to develop our standards nationwide. The partnership aims to support the great work our junior clubs are doing around the country and will look to further enhance player skillsets and target locations with limited badminton opportunities.
National Badminton have been running in England from 2018. Ever since they have successfully delivered their programmes in 12 counties, 80 venues hosting over 1,000 players each week. National Badminton host weekly sessions for juniors aged 4-17, adults of all abilities and performance players.
National Badminton’s NextGen junior programme has been developed to help players accelerate their learning and development. They offer a full programme of evening and weekend badminton coaching for players aged 4 years old and upwards. Specialist coaches will ensure every child has the best start to their badminton journey in a safe and inclusive environment. Sessions cater to all abilities, so no one gets left behind. Children will have the chance to experience their first month for £10 with prices increasing thereafter.
We are actively seeking enthusiastic driven badminton coaches who want to develop their coaching skills and support the next generation of talent to maximise their potential. We are looking to increase badminton opportunities across the country and are therefore willing to explore all locations. Coaches are expected to have a BWF level 1 or equivalent, first aid, safeguarding and appropriate insurance or be willing to work towards, alongside an active DBS. Badminton Wales can support coaches obtain these requirements. There will be no expectation of hours, coaching hours will be determined by the demand in the area, coach availability and their willingness to grow the game locally.
